Born and raised in Pietermaritzburg, Tyla Dee Nurden knew from a young at age that she wanted to be involved in the arts. Tyla studied Musical Theatre at Oakfields College in Pretoria where she obtained her Diploma in the Performing Arts. Tyla majored in Singing and has had training in a variety of dance forms, such as: ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary. Tyla’s television credits have been recognized on KykNet for dancing in Sterlopers, and more of her dance performances include “Flesh” and “J’Zel” performed at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival and at Dance Umbrella 2015. At Oakfields College she appeared in various productions, including “Hot Mikado”, “Carrie, The Musical”; for both she was able to work with Naledi Award winner for Best Musical Director, Rowan Bakker, and “The Cradle Will Rock”. In Tyla’s 1st year of studying she also performed in Add-Life’s production of Liefling, Die Musiekblyspel at the State Theatre and was thrilled to perform at the 67 Blankets Charity Drive as well as at the Vicki Karras Tribute in 2014.
