TEEKAY BALOYI is a high-energy performer with a strong background in musical theatre. Studying at T.U.T. he performed annually at the Breytenbach Theatre and went on to graduate with a degree in Musical Theatre. This Joburg-born entertainer has travelled across South Africa, appearing in shows such as ‘Annie’ and ‘Hello Dolly’ at the Natal Playhouse Theatre, ‘Anything Goes’ and ‘Godspell’ at the UJ Arts Theatre, and ‘Sarafina: in Black and White’ at the Soweto Theatre under the direction of Josias Dos Moleele. Also included in his professional stage experience are productions such as ‘Ester: The Musical,’ Janice Honeyman’s ‘Peter Pan’ Pantomime and the Mzansi Fela Festival in 2013 at the State Theatre.
His forte can also be seen in his passion for children’s theatre, appearing in shows such as the Tshwane Youth Theatre’s productions of ‘Rapunzel’ and ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes.’ Under the keen direction of Francois Theron, TeeKay has portrayed the ‘The Artful Dodger’ in The National Children’s Theatre’s production of ‘The Adventures of Oliver Twist’ and as a title role ‘Frog’ in ‘A Year with Frog and Toad’ in 2015. TeeKay has also proven to be a favourite with commercial clients with a Mc Donalds and Stylin’ Dredz campaign under the belt.
His performance skills are not limited only to the stage. As a member of Elegant Entertainment, TeeKay has performed for several private events including weddings and corporate functions, performing at venues such as the Wild Coast Sun and the Carousel Casino. Being trained in Jazz and Ballet, TeeKay predominantly specialises in Tap and is currently a member of ‘The ‘Foot Musicians,’ tap Company under the instruction of Sandra and Megan Rosenberg and has performed in several dance pieces including T.U.T.’s 2014 Dance Season ‘Gateway’ and ‘We’re Back’ at the Victory Theatre in 2015.
