Namisa Mdlalose is a Durban bred, graduated theatre making student from the University of Cape Town. Namisa spent four years at the University learning, discovering and honing her craft not only in performance but in writing, directing and designing her own works as well.
As a performer, she has been directed under Clare Stopford, Welcome to Thebes (2014), Mdu Kweyama, Dead wait (2014), Koleka Putuma, For God’s sake (2014), Jonathan Munby, King Kong (2017). Namisa is currently working on the Broadway Hit Musical The Color Purple directed by Janice Honeyman.
As a theatre maker she, together with her colleague and friend Puleng Stewart, walked away with “Playwright of the year” from the National Arts Festival 2016 for their production Figs.
Namisa aspires to continue honing her skills and talents through performance and theatre making.
