Myra Jaqueline Harms hails from the small town of Tzaneen, but what she offers is anything but small. She is a creative, dedicated and talented actress. In 2006 she wins gold medals for acting at the Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles and obtains a scholarship at The School for Film and Television in New York. In 2011 she passes her National Diploma in Musical Theatre with Cum Laude. In 2012, she completes an Acting for Film course at ACT Cape Town, where she was trained in Meisner Technique and coached by actors, Grant Swanby and Tamryn Spiers. Later that year she goes on to complete her B-Tech Degree in Musical Theatre at Tshwane University of Technology where she majors in Acting and Directing.
Her stage experience includes productions such as “Parade”(2010), the lead role in “Coloured Mecca”(2011), “Rita” (2012), “Ester, The Musical” at the States Theatre (2011 – 2012) and a lead in “Annie Jnr” (2012). She acted as assistant to the director, Dr. Mortimer, from America for “Spring Awakening” (2011). She wrote and directed her own production “Blommeroep” at the Krêkvars arts festival (2012); as well as compiled and performed her own One-Woman Cabaret, “Dirty Laundry”, in Tzaneen (2014).
Her film and television credentials include: lead actress in a series of comedy commercials for “Solidariteit Jeug”(2017 & 2018), film “Bloodline”(2016) directed by Darrell Roodt, TV commercial “Hippo.co.za” (2015); Afrikaans feature-film “Verskietende Ster” (2014) directed by Darrell Roodt; South African soap opera, “Scandal” (2014); Afrikaans soap opera “7de Laan” (2014); “You Go Girl” KFC TV commercial (2012); short film “Short Brief” directed by Dave Hawkins (2011); and lead actress in 3 music videos for singer Steyn de Wet seen on KykNet Music Channel. Myra is a full rounded performer, ready to tackle any new challenges that come her way.
