Michael Keagan Mac is currently in his final year of studies at the University of Pretoria, where he will graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Drama at the end of 2014. During the 3 years of his course, Michael has received formal training in Voice and Acting from the likes of Prof. Marth Munro, Rian Terblanche and Dr. Myer Taub, as well as professional training in Movement and Physical Theatre from Standard Bank Young Artist of Year 2012, Bailey Snyman. In 2013, Michael landed the role of Dr. Thomas Parker in ‘Batboy: The Musical’, where he worked closely with Anitra Davel van Zyl and Dr. Harold Mortimer from Oklahoma University’s Musical Theatre Department.
In 2014, Michael played the role of Max Berber in ‘Bent’, a play written by Martin Sherman and directed by Rian Terblanche, which received great acclaim from theatre goers as well as active industry professionals. With his keen interest for performing, Michael is capable of transposing his abilities and adapting them to fit just about any platform and genre of theatre. He has also played his hand at presenting and directing, though his strengths lie in what he is able to do on stage. In his spare time, Michael enjoys writing and researching methods of how he can put what he writes onto a stage for audiences to enjoy, but more importantly, engage with.
