Born in the coastal town of East London, Meryl’s passion for the arts was ignited as she frequented performing in and around the area. She took part in choirs, orchestras, eisteddfods, dance recitals, musicals and cabarets – amongst others fanning that fire into flame. In 2005 she enrolled in Musical Theatre at Tshwane University of Technology, highlights include the pantomime, Rooikeppie – Written and directing by Neels Clasen, Sweet Charity and Ragtime (Sarah Brown Eyes) – directed by Tim Walton. She then obtained B.Tech degree majoring in acting and dance teaching.
After embarking on a career in the entertainment industry, she did various theatre productions Cinderella has a ball (Cinderella and various) – OnCue Theatre and Barnyard, Othello(Desdemona) – Oncue Theatre, Animal Farm(various) – Oncue Theatre, Hansel and Gretel (Mary Poppins and various) – Oncue Theatre and Barnyard, Buddy Hollly – The Buddy Holly Story (Add-Life Productions).
Believing in recompensing, Meryl also has a history of teaching credits which include voice, singing, pilates, dance and musical theatre amongst others and has worked at institution like Tshwane University of Technology, Dynamic Dance Studio, Dance Mouse and Shofar Christian Church.
This triple threat performer is a dynamic member of any team and is excited to be back after a 3 year hiatus from the industry. She has her own production company, Beulah’s Movement, gets involved in community projects and upliftment through the performing arts. As a mother of 3 gorgeous boys she understands that there is a legacy to be built not just for us, but for the generations to come.
