The world admires those who have the courage to step out of their comfort zone, the go-getters who follow their dream and Mauritz is certainly proof that dreams are what we’re made of. He recently graduated from the New York Film Academy’s Musical Theatre program after giving up a successful 12 year international marketing & branding career to commit to his passion for singing, acting and dancing.
Casted as Billy Idol (The Wedding Singer) and featured ensemble dancer he immediately put his skills to work at the Connoly theatre in New York. He appeared as Lead character in the new works reading “Camilla” and was also casted in the challenging Jason Robert Brown’s “Songs for a New World” (New York Film Academy).
With a natural flair and a raw approach to film work, Mauritz appeared in several short films during his time in New York, from quirky movie musicals like “Winning New York” to challenging roles like a veteran battling with phantom limb syndrome in the film “Phantom”. Yolo, Loving (im) perfection & Imitation are only some of the other films he featured. His local experience includes Virgin Holiday TVC.
Mauritz believes his life is to serve as inspiration for people to follow their dream. Making the world a better place through moving and emotive storytelling is Mauritz’s vision and we’re excited to see him making waves in South Africa.
