Chanté Ras is a singer, actor, dancer and part-time model, with a Diploma in Musical Theatre and Dance. Chanté trained at Oakfields College, majoring in singing and receiving training in a variety of dance forms including: ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary.
During high school, she was cast as the lead role in the 2011 ‘ALL SHOOK UP!’ musical at the Brooklyn Theatre – exposed to the first taste of her ignited passion for Musical Theatre. She was also a chosen member of the University of Pretoria Youth Choir representing Gauteng, competing internationally.
While studying at Oakfields College she appeared in the ensemble for nationally premiering musical productions, including “The Cradle Will Rock” (2015) and “Passing Strange” (2016); and was privileged to partake in the 2014 ‘MAMMA K TRIBUTE “The Show Goes ON!’; as well as corporate events with producer David Bloch, including the ‘Mandela 67 Blankets Concert’ (2014) and ‘Bidvest on Broadway’(2015). After completing her studies, Chante appeared as the lead, Anna, for an original South African Musical production, ‘Queen of Sheba – A Christmas Spectacular’ (2017), written and directed by David Webster.
Chanté was also a requested guest artist for the 2014 and 2016, Top Model South Africa finales. Elected for the Music Co. from the alumni of the University of Pretoria Youth Choir, Chante featured as a soloist in acorporate concert event, The Joyful Noise (ft. Lloyd Cele), appearing on SABC 1.
She most recently appeared as a cameo role in the Nightlight Production’s short film, The Defining Moment (2018), and Nightlight’s next short film collaboration project with Valour House Productions, titled Vision (2019), appearing as the female lead.
