Cassius Davids is an Actor, Singer and Voice Over artist. He completed his BA Drama degree at the University of Pretoria(2015). It is here where he was trained by acclaimed professionals such as Africa’s first Lessac master voice teacher Prof. Marth Munro, amongst other seasoned professionals.
During his studies he performed in numerous theatre productions, constantly work on his craft and bettering his understanding of theatre making.
One of those productions is Barbe Bleue: a story about madness (2015) directed by Gopala Davies, in which he portrayed the lead role of Blue Beard. This production won an Ovation Award at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival in 2015.
In 2016 he portrayed Tullus Aufidius in Sheakespeare’s Coriolanus (2016) directed by Rowan Quince and Nicola Pilkington. He also appeared in Les Cenci: a story about Artaud directed by Gopala Davies for the Grahamstown NAF’s main programme. Both these productions were nominated for Naledi Theatre Awards (2017), respectively.
In 2017 Cassius appeared in SABC 2’s popular telanovela Keeping Score as Kagiso. He portrayed the role of Melusi in MTV Base’s New Era Sessions. When it comes to television commercials Cassius has appeared in campaigns for Debonairs Pizza and Brothers for Life.
He has also lent his voice talents to advertisements for radio and Boomerang Africa’s Safari Comedy Show.
Cassius continues to proof his dedication to his craft and he is surely one to be watched!
