Blyde is an actress, writer, photographer, and singer who successfully graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2016 as a member of the golden key society, obtaining her degree in Drama. She went on to complete her honours in Drama and Film studies in 2017 where she proved to be an independent thinker who has a strong creative side, as she finished top-of-the-class in her Screenwriting submissions (including a TV series, short film, and Full Feature Film) and critically engaged with the notions of truth, memory, and family relations in documentary filmmaking. She is currently busy with her Master Degree and continues to write and submit screenplays to acclaimed film festivals such as Table Read My Screenplayand Jameson First Shot.
At the early age of 9, Smit made her television debut on a Kinderjoy(2005) advertisement that aired in South Africa and in the Republic of Cameroon for 4 years. She also featured in a KFCadvertisement in 2007 and played the recurring role of Little Kate, in Erfsondes season 1 and 2 (2007-2009).
She performed in numerous stage productions while at University. Student productions included portraying the leading lady in Flikflooidirected by Tharine Saslonka at Krekvars 2015 and by the end of 2015, Blyde performed in a two man show with Jannes Erasmus, called Stil, written and directed by Jannes Erasmus, at the Cape Town Fringe Festival. In 2017, Blyde portrayed a nurse as a guest role in the Afrikaans television series 7de Laan. She also played in a two man show called Koue Tee, directed by Talita du Buisson, performed at Kopanong 2017.
